The collaborative project glassjam.impro was made possible with the support of the “Verbindungslinien” program of the BBK (Professional Association of Visual Artists, Bavarian Regional Association) and was realized at Bild-Werk Frauenau in the Bavarian Forest. It will be on view from December 4, 2025 to March 8, 2026 at the European Museum of Modern Glass in Coburg.

glassjam.impro
At the hot glass furnace, one is never alone: glassmaking is an act of cooperation, trust, and shared movement. Like in a jam session, rhythm, tempo, and dynamics emerge from the interplay of mutual impulses. glassjam.impro transfers this principle into an artistic process in which interpretation and reaction continuously alternate.

Each member anonymously passed on one of their own works, which was then set to music by another participant and subsequently served as the basis for a new glass piece created by a third person—without knowing who had composed the sounds or which work had been set to music. In this way, a multilayered dialogue emerges, blending individual expression with collective creation.

Groups of three artists are connected with one another and interlinked with other trios, so that ultimately all eight are connected—a web of resonance, interpretation, and collaboration.
