Welcome: Simone Schimpf,
Director of NeuesMuseum

Introduction: Lena Trost,
Project Lead, Institute for Artistic Ceramics and Glass

The Institute for Artistic Ceramics and Glass (IKKG) at Koblenz University of Applied Sciences is one of the few internationally renowned institutions in the fine arts that offers selected students from around the world a comprehensive artistic education with a special focus. Unique within Germany’s higher-education landscape, modern sculpture is taught here with a particular emphasis on ceramics and glass as contemporary materials.

For the Neues Museum, students and graduates of the IKKG transform rooms through their work: They present pieces made of ceramics and glass—personal reflections that fill the museum space with stories and ideas. Narratives are rewoven, tradition transforms into the present, and material takes on shape.

The works on display are united by the diversity of artistic signatures in which memories are examined and questioned. The result is poetic, fragile, bold, and powerful positions.

Admission to the exhibition is free.
